Fred J. Knez graduated from University of Colorado where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He went on to pursue a law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California in 1979, where he was chairman of the Honor Board and a member of Law Review.

For over thirty years, Fred Knez has been representing individuals and corporations in serious personal injury and business litigation (plaintiff and defendant). After service in the Army during the Vietnam War as a medic and medical laboratory technician, Fred Knez attended the University of Colorado. He then worked as an Insurance Adjuster for Allstate Insurance and as a private investigator before graduating from law school. He was admitted to practice law in California in 1980, the U.S. District Court in 1981, the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in 1983, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1984.

Fred Knez and his wife Myra have four children and ten grandchildren. When time permits, Mr. Knez enjoys golf, fishing and riding his Harley.
